About us

Tobacco Free Europe is a consortium of non-profit organisations working together:

  • To ensure that tobacco control becomes a top health priority in the political arena at EU and national level during the elections and beyond
  • To generate a high-profile public debate on tobacco control involving politicians, decision-makers and other stakeholders
  • To enable the tobacco control community, during the 2009 elections, to build alliances with politicians and decision-makers in Member States, in the future European Parliament and in the Commission
  • To hold the successfully elected European Parliamentarians accountable for their commitments beyond the election.

The Tobacco Free Europe Campaign is supported by the European tobacco control community and its steering group is composed of Florence Berteletti-Kemp from the SmokeFree Partnership, Francis Grogna from the European Network for Smoking Prevention, Luk Joossens from the European Cancer Leagues and Susanne Logstrup from the European Heart Network.

Together, they represent a membership of hundreds of national and local organisations working on tobacco and smoking related health issues, and thousands of individual doctors and health practitioners.

The Tobacco Free Europe Campaign is committed to transparency about its funding which comes from the European Heart Network, the European Cancer Leagues, the SmokeFree Partnership, the European Respiratory Society, and the European Network for Smoking Prevention, as well as from unrestricted educational grants from Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Novartis.
